Day 1

Port: Cologne 22:30 Embarkation starting at 15:00.

 

Day 2

Koblenz Arrival 08:00

Excursion of the day – City tour Koblenz incl. Fortress Ehrenbreitstein.

The trip starts with a tour of the imperial city in the "German corner". Koblenz is one of the oldest cities in Germany. The trip takes you past the historic town hall with the “Schängelbrunnen” (fountain) and many other interesting points of the city. For example you will see the “Coin Master House called “Alte Münze“(old coin) which is located on “Münzplatz”(coin square). At this location is the birthplace of Prince Metternich too. Also, worth seeing is the “Balduinbrücke”, the second oldest, still maintaining bridge that crosses the river Moselle. The bridge dates from the 14th century. Then it goes up with the cabin cable car - to the “Ehrenbreitstein” fortress, which is situated on a 118-m high mountain spur. The inclined lift

(opened in 2011) in the District of “Ehrenbreitstein” connects the Mill Valley with the East side of the fortress. Be mesmerized by a breath-taking panoramic view of the city.

Day 4

Departure Koblenz Arrival Boppard

12:30 - City tour Boppard

As part of your city tour, you can explore the picturesque old town of Boppard. Near the market square is the Roman park with ruins of the Roman fortifications from the 4th century AD. Church buildings of the city are the St. Severus Church, the Carmelite Church or the Monastery Marienberg, which was founded around 1120. Numerous noble families lived in the city in the Middle Ages. Some of the houses have been preserved: Ritter-Schwalbach-Haus (15th century), Eltzer Hof (1566 and 1738), Templerhaus (in the core from the 13th century) and remains of the court of the Boos of Waldeck.

Day 5

Rüdesheim Arrival 09:00 – Departure 15:00.

Excursion of the day – Ride with the Winzerexpress and  cable car to the Niederwald monument.

The “Wine express “, a little train established in 1978, will give you a ride through the narrow street of Rüdesheim. After a short tour, you will stop at the valley station of the cable care station, which is located in the pedestrian zone in Rüdesheim. The cable car will take you to the Niederwald monument. The "Germania" was built in 1871 and is located above Rüdesheim. The statue is 38 meters high and is the landmark of this region. The lowest element shows a bronze group, right below the main mural reliefs: Father Rhine gives his daughter the Moselle the guardian horn. This tells historian story to the in the war established new border lines, which moved the border lines away from the Rhine and added the Alsace and Lorraine to the German empire.
