Kathmandu – Nagarkot – Chitwan NP – Pokhara – Jomson – Kathmandu

This trip is ideal to show you the best of cultural Nepal –starting from Kathmandu valley with its temples, old capital, the modern city and the well-kept monuments. Get away from the hustle and bustle of busy Kathmandu and head off to the mountain resort town of Nagarkot from where you have a good panoramic view of Himalayas including Mt. Everest on a clear day. Visit Pokhara, city of lakes and starting point of most adventure routes and mountain treks, with backdrop of mighty peak of Annapurna and continue to Chitwan National Park, home rare one-horned rhinoceros, the most elegant and feared predator – Royal Bengal Tiger. Besides the elusive tiger, Chitwan National Park offers visitors several species of deer, sloth bear, leopard, wild boar, nearly 450 distinct species of birds, fresh water dolphin, crocodile, nature at its rustic best and an enticing variety of flora and fauna. Spread in an area of 932 sq km this National Park is the biggest forest region of Nepal. Also visit Jomsom, a beautiful region nestled in the Annapurna range and a favourite route of trekking expeditions due to its picturesque scenery.

Itinerary

Day 1

Kathmandu

Arrive in Kathmandu in the morning. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your Hotel.

In the afternoon, proceed for a visit to Kathmandu city and its Durbar Square. This capital city of the kingdom of Nepal is situated at 1355mt. above sea level, is full of shrines, temples and ageless sculptures. During the sightseeing tour of this city you will visit Old Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Taleju Temple, Jagannath Temple, Gigantic figure of Kala Bhairaba – The God of Destruction, Shiva Parbati Temple, Kumari Ghar The Temple of Living Goddess) and Kasthamandap.

Day 2

Kathmandu (B)

This morning, proceed for a half day sightseeing tour of Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple and Bhaktapur city. The colossal stupa of Boudhanath was built in the 5th century AD is supposed to be the biggest in the world. It is built on an octagonal base inset with prayer wheel is surrounded by a circular market which forms a part of Tibet Town. The four pairs of the Buddha’s eye painted on the stupa give a vivid flash to the four cardinal directions, meaning to keep a diligent watch over the people and their commitments all the day and night.

In the afternoon, proceed for another half day sightseeing tour of Patan city and Swayambhunath Chaitya – one of the world’s most glorious Buddhist Chaityas said to be 200 years old. As this chaityas is situated 500 feet above the level of the valley it offers excellent panoramic view of Kathmandu valley.

Day 3

Kathmandu – Nagarkot (B)

A late start from the Hotel and proceed from Kathmandu to Nagarkot.

On arrival, check in at your Hotel. Situated at an altitude of 7133ft above sea level, Nagarkot is 32 km east of Kathmandu. It is a year round holiday resort. The panorama of the major peaks of the eastern Himalayas including Mt. Everest can be seen from here.

Rest of the day at leisure to explore this resort town on your own.

Day 4

Nagarkot – Chitwan (B/L/D)

This morning, drive from Nagarkot to Chitwan National Park. On arrival, check in at your Safari Resort. Lunch at the Resort.

Afternoon elephant safari through open grasslands and forests, which house a wide variety of fauna including the one-horned rhinoceros, fresh water dolphin, the marsh mugger, gharial crocs sloth bear, deer, monkeys, crocodiles, wild boar, leopards, the elusive Bengal tiger and over 450 species of birds.

Dinner at the Resort.

Day 5

Chitwan (B/L/D)

Whole day jungle activities such as jungle walk, bird watching, dugout canoe ride to view the Water birds and reptile, walk to Tharu Village etc.

Lunch & dinner at the Resort.

Day 6

Chitwan – Pokhara (B)

This morning, leave from Chitwan National Park for a scenic drive to Pokhara. On arrival, check in at your Hotel. In the afternoon, you will be taken for a one hour boat ride on Phewa Lake.

Day 7

Pokhara (B)

This morning, proceed for a half day tour of Pokhara city which includes a visit to Kali Temple, David’s fall- Locally known as Patale Chhango, (Hell’s fall), Bahari Temple is situated on a small island in the midlle of Phewa Lake and is dedicated to the goddess Ajima. This is the most important religious monument in Pokhara. Gupteshwar Cave is a 3km long cave and has some large hall-like rooms. This cave holds special value for Hindus as a statue of Lord Shiva is preserved here.

Afternoon at leisure to explore this scenic town on your own.

Day 8

Pokhara – Jomsom (B)

After breakfast drive to airport to fly to Jomsom by G1 111 departure at 07:00 hrs. Upon arrival in Jomsom, proceed for sightseeing of the beautiful Marpha Village. Back to the hotel by Jeep or walk. The scenery of the route ranges from forests of brilliant red rhododendrons to rocky cliffs and desert of Mustang.

Day 9

Jomsom-Pokhara-Kathmandu (B)

After breakfast fly back to Pokhara and take a connecting flight to Kathmandu.
 

Day 10

Kathmandu (B)

Transfer from Hotel to airport in time to connect your flight to onward journey.
