45 hours - Early this morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Bangkok and drive to a small railway station just outside of the city to board a local train. With mainly local Thais on board, enjoy a scenic journey past salt fields and rice paddies until reaching the famous Mae Klong Railway Market - a market where the stalls are laid out on both sides of the railway tracks. When the train comes through, the tents and goods are moved from the rails in lightning speed. After the train has sped by, everything is moved back within a few seconds so that no one would suspect a passage for a train.
30 hours - After exploring the market, meet a local Thai who produces palm sugar made from the sweet, watery sap that drips from cut flower buds. The sap is collected each morning and boiled in huge woks until a sticky sugar remains.
00 hours - We then drive to Kanchanaburi Province to visit Wat ThamSua and Wat Tham Khao Noi. The pagodas of these two temples tower above the nearby Mae Klong River below. From the top, you can enjoy the stunning panoramic view with the Mae Klong River and bright green rice fields providing the backdrop.
30 hours - We then continue to Kanchanaburi and enjoy a leisurely lunch in a beautiful riverside setting on the outskirts of town.
30 hours - After lunch, transfer to the River Kwai and take a scenic longtailed boat trip upstream to The Float House River Kwai. This boutique floating accommodation blending in wonderfully with the natural environment has floating villas made of teak wood and thatched roofing.
The rest of the afternoon is free to relax in the lovely surroundings. Later this evening you can savour a Thai set dinner, followed by a 45-minute presentation of Mon Dancing.
