Itinerary

Day 1

Ho Chi Minh City

Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to the Hotel

 

Day 2

Ho Chi Minh City (B)

Ho Chi Minh City city tour showcasing a mix of French colonial architecture and Chinese influences. Afternoon is at leisure.

Day 3

Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi Tunnels - Ho Chi Minh City (B)

Morning road excursion to Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing complex of underground bunkers which were used by a guerrilla army during the Vietnam War. Afternoon free.

Day 4

Ho Chi Minh City – Cai Be – Can Tho (B/L)

Road trip this morning to Cai Be, 120 km south-west of Saigon in the heart of the Mekong Delta. Stop en route to visit a typical local house. Continue by river to see family-run businesses producing a local version of popcorn, local wine and rice paper. Lunch is at a local house on the Binh Hoa Phuoc islet, set amongst fruit orchards and bonsai trees. Continue to Vinh Long and drive on to Can Tho and check into your hotel.

Day 5

Can Tho (B/L)

Morning boat cruise to visit Cai Rang floating market, which is a wonderful spectacle with thousands of small boats barging and jostling for position as their owners attempt to sell their goods. Cruise through small canals and stop at a fruit orchard to taste some of the succulent fruits and continue to visit the Binh Thuy old house and the market. In the afternoon you cycle along quiet towpaths to experience authentic rural Vietnam.

Day 6

Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh – Danang – Hoi An (B)

Morning drive to Ho Chi Minh to catch the flight to Danang. Arrive in Danang and transfer to Hoi An.  Rest of the day is at leisure.

 

Day 7

Hoi An (B)

This morning, take  a half day walking tour of Hoi An Town Centre and visit famous landmarks. The first stop is the Chua Ong Pagoda, then see the Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, From there walk to Tan Ky House, finally, stroll across the Japanese bridge which doubles as a temple and is a major landmark of Hoi An. Afternoon free.

Day 8

Hoi An - Hue (B)

Drive to Hue. Sightseeing of Old Imperial City -Visit Imperial Tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, Thien Mu Pagoda, Tomb of Emperor Minh Mang with a boat trip and Dong Ba Market.  

 

Day 9

Hue - Hanoi (B)

Morning flight to Hanoi. Walking tour of the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda and Temple of Literature. Afternoon free

 

Day 10

Hanoi - Mai Chau (B/L/D)

Drive to Mai Chau through nice scenery with rice paddies and green mountains. Visit Soldier Cave and walk through Thai Villages of Pom Coong and Lac. Dinner with a traditional dance performance by local Thái tribe.

Day 11

Mai Chau - Hanoi (B/L)

Drive back to Hanoi. Afternoon free

 

Day 12

Hanoi - Halong Bay (B/L/D)

Drive through the villages and rice paddies to Ha Long Bay. Board a junk for a cruise among the hundreds of islets of Ha Long Bay. Drop anchor in the evening for an overnight on junk among the dramatic limestone peaks rising out of the sea.

Day 13

Halong Bay - Hanoi (B)

Take a delightful morning cruise through the limestone cliffs and emerald waters of Ha Long Bay before returning to the pier. Drive back to Hanoi and the afternoon at leisure.

Day 14

Hanoi (B)

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
